Sri venkateswara swami temple in Alwal
Sri Balaji Venkateswara Swamy temple at Alwal is one of the of the oldest temples in the city built by Chandulal Bahadur, during the regin of nawab sikandarjah.
This temple was built during the 18th century.
A saint named Vishnu Balaji is said to have stopped at Alwal while travelling back to Kashi on a pilgrimage to Tirumala. The saint, who was carrying an idol of Lord Balaji, meditated under a tamarind tree while he was there. Between 1833 to 1844, Chandulal Bahadur served as the prime minister of Hyderabad state. He and his family visited the saint to ask for his blessing.
In his dream, Lord Venkateswara Swamy requested that Chandulal construct a temple at Alwal so that pilgrims who could not afford to go to Tirumala could perform their vows nearby. Chandulal did so, and the saint-carried idol of Lord Venkateswara was placed inside.
